i think, the smaller version would have the same amount? of paper listed BUT instead you use HALF of the rectangular paper you normally use… eg: you have a rectangle of 5cm by 3cm and you fold that in half vertically, then that will be 2.5cm by 3 cm so you use that to make a smaller version swan…
but im not 100% sure… i hope Jewellia answers your question

the list of pieces is for the big? model
do we need about 700 peices for the big model or the? small version you are making?
i made the base with 55? but it looks so much smaller than the original

no I used the same sized pieces but used? less pieces to make something smaller
