Like what new methods or innovations do you use to ensure that your soil space isn’t that small for a decent garden.

I want to start a little garden, but heres the problem. I live in an apt. with a small pattio (ground floor)So i cant actually use their soil, I see it in my mind but know nothing of gardening, all house plants i have ever had have died very quickly and it didnt help that my cats ate them too…any sugestions for a good outdoor garden I could do in pots and would be hard for me to kill?

I would like to grow tulips from that bulb thing, but I dont know what time month or time is ready to plant it. I also would like to know where I can get the tulip bulb and what is the best soil to plant it in. If there is any other thing I might need to know, please tell me.(thank you)

We’re going to be doing some front yard landscaping and this means digging up the tulip beds. The tulips are in bloom now, and will be finished blooming by the time we start the project in June. How soon can I dig them up without hurting them? Also – do I need to store them in soil or transplant them right away?

i recently moved into my house. in the backyard there was a stump tree. i decided to grow a garden around it. After digging up most of the soil my neighbor came by and said i would have trouble growing anything because that stump was a old pine tree. i didnt remove the stump but removed tons of its roots(electric saw:-) that would interfere with planting.
My question would the acidity affect my future veggie garden?

We had a small vegetable garden and a few months ago some major life things happened so we completely forgot about our garden. What I was wondering, is do we need to pull up all of the dead plants or can we just bury them there? Would this nutritionalize the soil or would it just be better to pull them all up?
I think the only reason they are dead is that they starved to death because we forgot to water them for a few monthes, and didn’t protect them during the winter.

My mother in law gave me a pot of tulips for Valentine’s Day with beautiful white blosoms. I kept the soil moist and put the plant on the window sill for light. But the tips started turning yellow and the petals fell off after only 2 weeks. Did I do something wrong? What should I do with it now?

We have several rose bushes…we live at 5300ft above sea level and came here from the desert, so I’ve never had roses before. I cut the dead bulbs off as they go bad, but last fall never ‘pruned’ any of the bushes as I’ve heard you should. This year we had about 1/3 the return of roses and actually one whole bush never bloomed…and it’s our largest one? I went and bought a really rich mulch and turned the soil beneath each bush about 3 weeks ago before adding the fresh soil hoping that the nutrients might help…it did somewhat, but all the people up here have roses and they have sooooo many more than us on each bush….tons…and they are soooooo big too. How do I get my rose bushes to produce like that for next year…and when and how is the best way to prune??? Thanks all!
