Update on our gardening process this last week in our backyard. The greenhouse structure hasn’t changed since our last greenhouse building video but lots of other things are coming along. More herbs are coming up in our herb garden and we have some seeds and seedlings planted in our raised square foot garden beds. If you have a trick for controlling “creeping charlie” weeds, please share. It isn’t an ugly weed but it chokes things out.

@14dollarz Will do. We will be posting some more? VERY soon. ;)

  4. GettingThereGreen says:

@halleysmommy Never heard of creeping Jenny…

We use our lemon balm in tea… crush it up and it gives a nice flavor that way. also a small amount in salads and dressings? is good as well. If you like to add lemon flavor to chicken you can use it for that too. ;)

  5. halleysmommy says:

$5?!?! ? Lucky you. Is creeping charlie like creeping jenny? Asking this because I just planted my Jenny’s. What do you do w/your lemon balm? I’ve had mine 3 seasons now and love it, but can’t find much edible use.

Hey glad i found these videos. Keep the updates coming.?

  7. GettingThereGreen says:

@ttitanic121 It “creeps” through all the cracks and just goes nuts…? it’s easy to get out, but it keeps coming back no matter how much we rake, weed, etc… :(

  8. ttitanic121 says:

Cool…I just left the strawb.s & every year the patch gets bigger, they will creep/ invade, but U can contain them with a border…have the “creepin charlie”, is that what U call it…just rake it? out of the grass & so far it’s been less & less each year

  9. jihadacadien says:

@GettingThereGreen Yeah it’s weird it’s so cheap. But? my perlite was even cheaper ;)

  10. GettingThereGreen says:

@jihadacadien Come to find? out what we have is actually vermiculite… the bags we got are huge… they cost us $20/each. We got 2 bags.

  11. GettingThereGreen says:

@TheUrbanOutdoors Glad you are liking our videos. We love? that everyone keeps watching. Youtube is AWESOME!!!

  12. TheUrbanOutdoors says:

    good video as always?

  13. GettingThereGreen says:

@bcgarden2010 Yes, they are PVC pipes. We are making a large hoop house. It’s not done yet. See our other? videos… there is one that will explain a little. ;)

  14. bcgarden2010 says:

are those pvc pipes??? is that for a big floating row cover? or something?! looks like you guys are having some great weather!

  15. GettingThereGreen says:

@Revolutionisnow1 Still lots to do.? We will get to it all. We still have a water barrel video to do and have to finish the greenhouse… part 2 video and still lots of seeds still to sow.

  16. Revolutionisnow1 says:

Wow its looking? good you two! Keep up the good work.

  17. jihadacadien says:

@jihadacadien I ment I’ll stick to perlite LOL!?

  18. jihadacadien says:

@GettingThereGreen Dang we have to Google every thing now days! lol I guess for now I’m gonna stick to vermiculite…..and I might put some this year everywhere and let it be for a few years. I? think it stays in the dirt for some time.

  19. GettingThereGreen says:

@jihadacadien yeah I would suggest googling it. perlite is made from volcanic rock, vermiculite is made from some mineral. I? don’t know a lot about it, but I do know that it is mined and one of the mines that was used a long time ago (more than 10 years) had a problem with asbestos so there was a big controversy about it back then. ~Amanda

  20. jihadacadien says:

@jihadacadien I guess? vermiculite is a volcanic stone…and perlite seen to be human made. I guess it’s like peat moss….not super ecological since it has to be harvested and shipped….

  21. jihadacadien says:

@GettingThereGreen? Great Canadian made! And it’s pretty cheap too right? I had a huge bag for 10 buck. Do you know if they are both made of the same material? I guess I could easely check online lol!

  22. GettingThereGreen says:

@jihadacadien I didn’t really know the differences between perlite and vermiculite but since Mel Bartholomew recommended vermiculite specifically, we asked a local greenhouse to? order it in for us. The bag says perlitecanada. com on it so we thought that it was perlite. But now I think it really is vermiculite. perlitecanada. com makes both vermiculite and perlite (and they are in Quebec). both products really are very natural products. what we have are the accordion shaped pieces. ~Amanda

  23. jihadacadien says:

Wow 5 bucks!!! I got some at canadian? tire made of fiber glass..they are so light. Didn’T know about perlite…..it always look more chemically made than the vermiculite. wait…I mean the one that looks like litte accordeons ;) ………k the wire just serves as a divider for when you’re planting…..
