I found a butterfly about a week ago. But i dont wanna let it go cause its so cold outside and im scared its going to die, When i found it it was almost dead. What should i do. I DONT WANT IT TO DIE!!!!!. I dont kno if this helps but we live in Tn. i have it in a 10gl tank with some leaves that i found and twigs. It seems to be doing pretty good but like what do they eat and stuff and how do they drink water? and one of its wings ripped

YOu need to know what kind of butterfly.
They need nectar from flowers. And water. So spray the tank with mister of plain water every so often so things are moist.
If it is a monarch, it will need asters, goldenrods for nectar. It will lay eggs. I reallyt hink it is too late in the year for the eggs. If they eggs hatch,(INTO CATERPILLARS) they need about 2 weeks to eat like craZY (they’ll need milkweed to eat)
Then its about two more weeks for it to form the chrysalis and emerge as a new butterfly that needs to fly to warmer weather.
So this one may just be a straggler that didn’t make it to warm place in time because of its ripped wing.
