Question by Lovemyfamily: Covering lavender plants in winter?
I have herbs in my garden that I would like to protect through the winter. What do I use and do I just cover the ground or the entire plant? I am in zone 6, USA.
I also would like to know about my other herbs in the garden. Thyme?

Lavendar does not need protection in zone 6. It’s one tough customer. Even in zone 5, it comes back in the spring vigorously every year.
You might cut the older wood off in the spring to encourage hew growth. But unless you plant is in a wet area (which it hates), it should be just fine without any winter-protection fussings.
