Question by SCC: For a pagan, what is the significance of an herb garden?
I just saw a question asking if Pagans had started an herb garden. I was not aware that this related to anything spiritual from any particular belief.
For Pagans, what would be the reason for an herb garden?

What do you think? Answer below!

answer: quite a number of pagans are interested in gardening because the various pagan religious holidays acknowledge the change of seasons and the energies of the earth. Gardening helps us connect with that, is better for your health and can be enjoyable.
Some other pagans have black thumbs and don’t bother trying. LOL
It’s not a requirement.
There really isn’t any significance to it from the pagan perspective as far as I know.
There are however, many pagans who go all natural(including myself) and do the homeopathic medicine, and remedies, kinda thing.
If you are a greenwitch(i think that’s what their called) They are into using all natural stuff..
Sorry that my answer doesn’t flow well. I’m just sooo tired….

P.S.
The person above me has a very good point also, in fact that is one of the main reasons I am trying to start my garden. I am looking for that connection with nature right now.
For some, the herbs have spiritual signifigance. For others, the very act of gardening puts one in touch with the planet. And then, fresh herbs make a heck of a difference than dried ones when you cook with them.
I just love my herbs (((searcher))). I live in the city and I have fruit trees.. peaches, nectarines, oranges, mandarines, lemons, nashi pears and mangos! I also got 2 passionfruit vines full to the brim at the moment with ripe fruit so I am going to have to make syrup out of them. I like to connect with the garden as oft as I can. It’s relaxing!
Not only are they good for culinary purposes and medicinal value they also are used to blend incenses for sabbats and esbats and in spell working different herbs have different qualities there are many books on the subject a good one is a druids herbal for the sacred earth year this book gives the medical uses and the magical uses and wich herbs are associated with what gods and what sabbats
Well, first and foremost-do you know how many herbs we go through in a year? And not the toking kind, either. They’re more attuned to you, more powerful -for- you, if you grow them yourself. Not to say there’s anything wrong with buying them… but most people believe that if you get things off your home turf, or they fall into your lap, they’re more attuned to you.
Some say that it’s giving back to mother nature. It’s symbolism-the birth, life and death of a plant, caring for a living thing and gently guiding it through that life, etc.
