To plant hollyhocks, use seeds or roots covered with compost or potting soil and grow them in groups of two or three. Cut hollyhocks down when they finish blooming to prevent the plants from taking over with tips from a sustainable gardener in this free video on gardening.
The Bucolic Farmers Society at Lewis & Clark, formed during the 2009-10 academic year, brings together a group of students committed to building community and fostering sustainability through the creation and maintenance of gardens on campus. Thanks to the hard work of these students, Lewis & Clark now has two gardens–one near the Forest residence halls and one on south campus.
