I Love Herbs! Today Propagating Rosemary Plus From Seed Results

Hi Everyone, if you have interest in growing herbs, you may like this video.. :) This video maybe lengthy but the whole process is in this video, maybe boring to some of you but also I hope it is helpful to those interested in propagating rosemary from cuttings. This was my first time propagating and I feel it was successful for a first try, and hope to do more later on . Rosemary does not winter in our area but I brought one indoors for the reason of propagating it in late winter.. Growing Rosemary from seed is also pretty easy process if you are wanting a challenge I wouldn’t hesitate, the rosemary I started from seed is going well and will be transplanted out in the greenhouse very soon.

lavender is so easy from seed.. not sure haven’t? done it.. all you can do is try and maybe research propagation on lavender..

  6. Maidenfairy12 says:

Would that work with the water with lavender???

this year I started? feeding my plants with worm tea after the seedlings grew alittle and continue to do so.. normally just plain water then fertilize when transplanting but it has worked both ways and the plants look healthy.. I use fish water too.. good luck!

Awesome video, i like the results you got! One question is when you started from seed,? after germinating and true leaves, how long did you wait to start feeding your plants with what and what concentration? I have some fish tank water, I can use as a natural mild fertilizer if i dilute it? Great I can’t wait for an update video on these rosemary after the summers over :)

  16. dianemummvideos says:

, that is really neat that this plant has? gone back generations.. that is ok, I will have many more soon enough.. thank you..:)

  17. GardeningInTheRAW says:

I got my first cutting about over 20 years ago from this old man that said he had the plant for over 60 years and he got it from his dad so no telling how far back the strain has been passed down in his family. it is the type that grows up into a shrub not the? kind that droops over things and grows down garden walls. I would offer clippings but I think there might be some rule about shipping plants I don’t know about and also I don’t like going to the post office. I will have to look into that.

  18. dianemummvideos says:

thanks for stopping by.. I just hope I can get lots of rosemary cutting on my next try.. the seeded? ones look much better .. good luck with yours and thanks for subscribing too..

  19. GardeningInTheRAW says:

I planted my rosemary under some pine trees on the edge facing south, they are growing like weeds now. not sure if it had anything to do with the pine trees but the other rosemary that? I have has not responded they same.

wonderful, I may try growing on in the ground and try the layering method heard it works pretty? well.. someone told me the older wood can and will produce roots too so I guess I didn’t have that luck in water.. but will try outside this next time.. thanks for stopping by..

  21. SleestaksRule says:

I tried it last year and worked great. The stems are sort of woody and they took longer to? sprout roots than other plants.

  22. dianemummvideos says:

this winter being so warm lots probably will make it.. good luck always helps having near your home too to? keep warm..

  23. DeDe1H1 says:

Wow the seed rosemary look great! I had rosemary all? winter and i’m in zone 5. It was close to the house in a raised bed. This is a first for me I had 5 plants but 2 made it. I’m going to try to propagate it so i can replace the 3 I lost.

Your seed grown plants are looking great. I worked on? a farm south of Rome a few years back and the lady of the house was a great cook. She appreciated that I knew most of the herbs so whenever she needed something she would just ask me to go pick some. She had big old rosemary shrubs and I insulted her by saying they didn’t smell or taste like rosemary. Evidently as it gets older it looses it’s flavour we bought new plants at a nursery and the difference was like night and day.

  25. SolakNC says:

Nice video again, Diane! We always get our new plants from branches that have layered themselves in the ground, so don’t give up on trying old wood cuttings. We have one main plant here, now about 10 years old. It ebbs and? flows. Parts of it die out, new branches layer in, so it’s like an everlasting plant. Of course, one HAS to accidentally walk into it every time you walk down around the pond :)
