I need info about transplanting daffodils and tulips?

I have daffodils and tulips sprouting in the middle of my yard. I’ve read that it’s best to move them after they bloom and the leaves are yellowed…but I’ll need to mow my lawn before mid-June! When is the second best time to move the bulbs and still keep them alive and blooming? Any tips?

You can move them now if you hurry, but as stated below, dig deep, try to keep all the roots intact. If you dig about 1/2 foot circumference around them you should be fine. If you don’t want to risk it, as soon as they are done blooming you can cut the leaf stalks down to almost the ground and mow over them, it won’t hurt them. Then transplant them in the fall.
