Question by vet4927: I’m really good at making tube scarfs. I can make one in two days. But how would I sell them?
The yarn costs alot and how would people give me the yarn. i want them to give me the yarn and I make it for them. i would charge them but how much? Help me. Give me some ideas.

You could put up advertisements in area stores. You would have to state in your ad that the person will have to supply the yarn. You won’t be able to charge much if they are supplying the yarn…probably no more than $ 5.00. You might be better off to have them tell you what colors they want and you provide the yarn. That way you can charge a bit more…maybe even up to $ 10.00. Just keep in mind that these scarves can be bought in a store for as little as $ 5.00.

Wear your scarfs as often as you can. When you get a compliment, make sure to tell them you made it. You may even want to drop a hint that you would be willing to make and sell.Try to get friends to spread the word as well. Look into consignment shops. You will not make as much of a profit but some profit is better than none. Also, open an etsy account. Join some livejournal knitting groups. I am on a few and a lot of people talk about their experience selling as well.
Generally when pricing something homemade, the “rule” is triple the price of the materials.
These are easy and fun to make, so you need to invent some way to make them look different from everyone else’s. Or offer to give lessons for money.
