Question by avonwrenn@sbcglobal.net: Has Anyone Used the Chia Herb Garden, how do I take care of the Cilantro?
I just asked about this and got some great responces about outdoor cilantro, but mines in door. Its in sunlight, and I water the plants regularly. The cilantro looks limp, and I always get my plants to a certain part, then they don’t grow. Has anyone used the Chia Herb Garden? How is the cilantro supposed to look. Any suggestions on care?
It is about 3 weeks old. Just droopy, don’t know if I’m doing it right.

You may be watering too much or too little. Look at the recommendations on the box.

  1. Cat says:

How old is it? How deep is the pot? Cilantro has a long tap root. Unless the pot is large, I doubt it would be very happy…

  2. Teenytime says:

Cilantro, or Coriandrum sativum, is a self seeding annual that requires well draining soil, full sun, and regular watering. If the soil that came with the Herb garden is too heavy, then the water will stay around too long for the Cilantro. Do you have it in a south facing window? Also, if it’s in one of those multi plant pots, I would remove it from the rest and increase the perlite to make the soil easier to drain.
Best of luck, and I hope this has helped!

If you’re trying to grow the herbs in the original pots you’ll find the plant out grows the small container. Cilantro will grow into a large plant given the room to do so and doesn’t like to be restrained in tiny 2 inch pots. Most herbs are this way. Give them room and enjoy.
