Q&A: Is it acceptable for men to wear womens clothes?

Question by Naomi T: Is it acceptable for men to wear womens clothes?
I have a close male friend who is gay. He often borrows my tops but lately wants to borrow skirts and now my shoes.
I don’t mind cos he has a fem figure, ive even done his makeup for him! Now he wants me to take him shopping dressed as a girl!

Thing is that i’m worried about other peoples reactions to this! Even tho sometimes he does almost look convincing, sometimes he even dresses sexier than me… i hate that!!

that’s crazy…. if i saw that, i’d be cracking up

  4. pensesamoi says:

Honestly, if he’s not worried about other people’s reactions, you shouldn’t worry either. It sounds like your friend is very comfortable with who he is, so you really shouldn’t worry about what other people think of him.

It’s not illegal for a man to dress in woman’s clothes. If he likes it and looks good- let him! It’s not like he’s gonna be your competition, after all any straight guy will not be interested in a crossdresser anyways.

  6. leave me alone says:

no, it is wrong for him to bother you.

Although, I find it slightly nauseating, why not?

Women have been wearing pants now for decades.

What’s good for the goose is still good for the gander, right?

Dont let it bother you. Let him be his own person! As long as he is a great friend to you, thats all that matters!!

  9. Clubber says:

omg..he can be ur close friends but I can never do this..tell him to have fun indoors.Thats crazy

  10. Howie Feltersnatch says:

No it is not, and its not acceptable to be jealous of a cross dresser either

  11. Neil Buddefugger says:

    No.

  12. Olivia says:

umm…. if he’s a true friend he wouldn’t ask to wear your clothes…tell him NICELY to get his own clothes….. it’s really immoral…

  13. Cellophane says:

I’d go along with it. He’s your friend… you might even have a really good time. You shouldn’t really care about what other people think, they might really get a kick out of it though. The ones who would be disgusted are uptight anyway… you dress up too and go as a “couple”. I love doing things like this every once in awhile. I have a really strange group of friends and I love them all, not everyone has an opportunity to have a drag queen for a “girl friend” you are luckier than most. Go and have fun! And hey, if he looks good… I personally like the emo guys that wear womens’ pants

  14. caciansf says:

I would really like to know that, why is it that a group of people that spend a lot of time detesting or disliking women and really do not want anything to do with them as far is a mate goes. Seem to spend hours and dollars looking like them. It baffles me !

  15. blue planet says:

I’ve heard of guys trying to get into a girl’s knickers, but that’s going too far !

  16. Lenore says:

who cares what others think? it obviously doesn’t bother him.. let him enjoy himself! a lot of people should be envious that they can’t be as comfortable in their skin (or in women’s clothing!) as he is!

  17. pipk62 says:

It seems to me that you are worried at the reaction, and whether either yourself or your friend can take the possible verbal abuse, theres no way of knowing, let him dress in what ever he wants, and you go along with him, holding your head up high, because you are being a real friend. :-)

BTW one of the greatest comedians ever – Eddie Izzard – is a well known transvestite, as a straight guy, it really doesn’t bother me.

  18. team_bar1o says:

Who cares what a few childish, uptight homophobes think? None of my gay friends do drag, but so what if they did?

Besides–I buy men’s shirts all the time and wear them as “big shirts.” Nothing wrong with that.

  19. julia_houtx says:

If you take him shopping dressed as a girl he can buy his own clothes & stop borrowing yours. Maybe he’ll even let you borrow some of his things if you ask, you did lend him your clothes, so fair is fair. If you hate that he dresses sexier than you, ask him to dress you sexy too & enjoy your new girlfriend.

    not acceptable

  21. Court L says:

No. It’s wrong! I was at disney world 1 weekend and this man was wearing shorter shorts than his wife! They looked like Daisy Duke shorts!

  22. mr random says:

i think as long as he treats u like a good guy should then it would be ok. but he should pick out his own clothes and stop borrowing yours and if u want to at times go ahead and give in to the interests
