We grow vegetables like corn, okra, potatoes, cucumbers and lettuce. They are wonderful for making salads, sandwiches and a very healthy way to live. people also plant flowers and herbs but i enjoy the fruits of my labor. They are best choices for us because we have a large family.
I strictly grow Vegetables, including; Onions, Beets, Cabbage, Potatoes, Okra, Squash, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Green Beans, Hot Peppers, Bell Peppers, Carrots, English Peas, Black eyed Peas and Radishes. I also have an Asparagus Bed.
Good luck to you and your Dad. Gardening such good exercise and tremendous therapy for one’s mind, heart and soul.
You should grow ground cherries! They grow easily in poor or rich soil, they don’t need much fertilizer, and they produce fruit that is protected by a husk, very pest and disease resistant and the fruit tastes tropical. It’s amazing more people don’t grow them.
I grow ground cherries, spearmint, chamomile, garlic, watermelon diakon radish, cherry tomatoes, various squash, sweet potatoes.
Usually corn,potatoes,tomatoes,zucchini,onions,beans & peas.
Fruit,only strawberries,peaches,plums & persimmons.
In the greenhouse we have all our herbs such as basil, lemon verbena, marjoram, thyme, chives, parsley, oregano, mint. The rosemary is outside.
Edit,we do have chokoes, but they are growing wild around this area.We had chilis & capsicums last year as well.
