  7. webcajun says:

@alicetheDroog …Each time I’ve had plants “dampen off” was a results of too much watering which promotes it. I was extra? careful with watering this year and have not had that problem. Good luck with school……Donald

  8. alicetheDroog says:

I’m in trade school for gardening, so I’ve heard many techniques for seed starting; but yours was new to me. Great? vid!

..but I’m pretty sure damping off refers to a fungus such as mold attacking the seedlings. You’re only describing a symptom.

  9. webcajun says:

@fkelly84 … bring the plants outside for a couple of hours the first day and increase? that time over about 5-7 days. That should harden them off just fine……Donald

  10. webcajun says:

@rayvt1 … Hey? Ray, sounds like you have a real nice setup there in Texas. We’ve been getting steady rains so the garden here is wet which means I can do very little out there now. I should be starting my tomatoes, peppers and eggplant inside in the next couple of weeks so you should see a gardening video next month. Check out my garden Calendar on the web site. Getting tired of shooting videos in the house. lol…..Donald

Your going to be our gardening bible especially as we have similar growing conditions…Will watch with anticipation for any of your 2011 videos. Thanks Ray

@YourGardenShow … not quite sure why the one without glue would be better. When possible I try to remove most of? the peat pot before planting…… Donald

  24. YourGardenShow says:

Quick question: Have you ever used the? peat pots made without glue? I think they are a few pennies more but the root balls are better formed. the BugLady told me about them.

  25. webcajun says:

    @YourGardenShow … thanks…. Donald?

  26. hawkbirdscarer says:

I used a SCARER (hawkbirdscarer. com ) it costs nothing and you set it up once and it scares the rodents and birds instinctively. It works! So no killing, no pesticides, no collateral damage, nothing!? It’s perfect. Hope this helps

  27. vampeve82 says:

do you have any videos on rhubarb trying to get as much info and? very small spaces, thing that can be move to a different location and not wasting materials and money

  28. will6659 says:

We had to trap several ground hogs and move them across the Charles? river to grow anything.

  29. TheKimber109 says:

    @growingyourgreens? Thanks John!

  30. growingyourgreens says:

I would run the reused fence boards thru a planer with vacuum attachment) to remove all that stuff before using them. I would not sand it all off, it would get too messy and create lots of dust. Of course, do the best you can do? to start growing. IF you dont have a planer, then try to find reused boards that have no coatings. Fence boards cost about $2 each at the hardware store, so they are not too expensive anyway, get them if you are really concerned.

  31. TheKimber109 says:

I love the idea of recycling old fencing or decking to make a raised bed. I was wondering, since you don’t always know what has been put on it, such as paint or sealers, is there a concern about something leeching into the soil and then possibly into your plants, if this kind? of wood is used?
Love your videos! I always look forward to them. Thanks!

  32. 05blended says:

I learn so muh from your videos. Thank you!?

  33. hoolicoffee says:

  35. wslandry says:

Hey your videos are so great who cares if you mess up a couple of words. Thanks again for all your informative videos. The only think that bothers me is talking to? someone who says the word “like” in every sentence. Like you know what I mean :)

  36. Kathe555 says:

    @rubydue
    Agreed.?

  37. rubydue says:

Keep talking the way? you talk John, I understand you just fine and that is the point. You are a font of information :)

  38. VonLeachim says:

“..when you throw something away …where is away? ….something to think about..”

    On Broccoli:
” if you don’t like it ..grow your own – because when you grow it ..your prolly? gonna like cos it tastes much better”

    Quality.

  40. kokonutbaby1 says:

Hi John, thanks to your Lowe’s free tree video, I not only got my free pine “bush” tree, I got tomatoes for .50cents a piece and they were out of the? peppers but at least I got what I did cheaply. I wouldve never known had u not said something about it. So ty alot!! =) I got 3 or 4 varieties so I am happy!

  41. btigtime2 says:

I have two barns and 36 raised beds and tons? of compost dirt all by picking up off the side of the road.

  42. Helioforge says:

Hey John, love the gardens under the viaducts! I had to take a thousand english classes in high school and college, too much emphasis on silly words! lol

Oh yeah, the fence boards/stakes work great for raised beds, you don’t even have to enclose them on all sides, just use? them to shore up the dirt in places!

  43. EnlightenedSky says:

Another informative video! Thanks for your work and research.? I am not at all bothered by your pronunciation of various words – it’s part of what makes you unique. And, I just adore the little laugh/giggle/chuckle you often make at the end of some of your sentences. Makes me smile every time!

  44. julzbo says:

Hey, John! great video! You always find something interesting to show us. Don’t let one person’s comments bug you. In fact you are correct about “wolf”! One wolf IS a wolf. Two of them are wolves! Again, thanks the vids and encouragement! BTW, you have so much food growing at your house, do you sell some at farmer’s markets or to restaurants? Sorry – guess I should watch the? ones you made in the beginning! Have a great day, John!

  45. thehittmann1981 says:

Your pronunciation seems to be very? similar to an Australian accent I have no troubles understanding you when you speak unlike people with this american accents. :)

  46. Carrill says:

    You are so cute!?

  47. souless1985 says:

Hi John. Your videos are great. I learned so much from your videos. Im currently growing my own food and cant wait to harvest them. But anyway, can you please explain the Senate Bill (S510) that passed last year which makes it illegal to grow, share, trade, sell your own food. I did some research myself, just want to see if i missed anything and maybe you can inform your subscribers that were not aware of? this. Thanks. And keep on posting your great videos.

  48. michaelstanger says:

People that criticize someone like you are losers. You help thousands and thousands of people daily get there shit together. Since I found you I have added on twice to raised beds and even teached kids? about gardening at a local school. I am trying to pass on the knowledge. Thanks Jon

  49. delaserdudeXD says:

Great Vid, The row cover fabric looks like a very light? one, that is used mainly to stop insects & it may add a little warmth but not much. Of course it’s a video so I can’t be sure of the thickness. Thought this might help.

  50. venicestu says:

John your absolutely perfect. I love this site and your positive energy as you share and mentor fellow garden lovers. I thank the good lord there’s people out there like you, willing to share information with us fellow raw food lovers. I also appreciate what you do at discount juicer.com to help us make informed decisions. When you give the people with negative comments acknowledgment you give away your positive energy. Just let them wither on? the vine and use them for compost. TY
