Question by sue k: Can dried tobacco leaves be used in a vegetable garden as fertilizer?
I have a great little vegetable and herb garden growing. A friend gave me some dried tobacco leaves. Can I lay them on the soil of my garden for fertilizer?

Best answer:

Answer by Karuvethil
Sorry you can’t apply dried tobacco leaves as fertilizer to your herb garden. Instead you can use the tobacco as an insecticide (usage: boil the tobacco, keep overnight and dilute some bar soap into it and spray to the plants while insects attack.)

Question by BRITTANIA: How can I keep dead palm leaves to use as decor in my home?
I have about 10 large dead queen & king palm leaves that I would love to use as part of our home decor. I would also like to spray paint them different colors. Is there something I should spray on them first to keep them from drying out & breaking before painting them w/color?

Best answer:

Answer by caseyjones
You can get spray varnish that won’t yellow and use it first…Try to find something not glossy….. So that when you paint them the paint will adhere to them…..They will become brittle no matter what…However you will be giving them some extra layers …And that should increase their life….Have Fun

But in the back yard garden is where I planted all the other radishes and squashes( which are sepperated.) is always dry so I have to water them every single day and that takes alot of time doing that because its a big garden. I tried the sprinkler but the garden is behind a tree so it hardly gets wet!!! Is there a way I can keep it moist without me watering it everyday?

I just bought a house and it has 6 rose bushes on it. I have never worked with roses let a lone in a garden. I am clueless. I am not even sure they are roses. It has thorns but the flower comes in batches of 3. The flower looks like a rose so I am just assuming.

I also see a vine growing around one of the bushes which I am trying to cut of it. Is that okay? All the bushes are out of direct sunlight and seam to be doing well. At the tipes of some of the bushes the stems look dead. Should I trim the stems that have no leaves? Should I cut of the flowers after a few days? How often should I water them? Again any info is good info. I am a putz when it comes to gardening.
I am in western New York.
