The Kersey Garden, Video #3, A Tour Thru the Kersey Gardens

After surviving two weeks of heavy, daily downpours and a gardener’s worst nightmare … hail … here’s a quick look around the yard and gardens at our Colorado home. This is the fourth installment in our series of home videos this year where we’ve been documenting our attempt to grow cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and herbs … using homemade, upside down planters.

The potatoes seemed pretty easy. They don’t like compost, just soil. Start them early, they have about a 90-100 day growing period. Check out on-line the different ways to container garden potatoes, lots of different stuff.

I don’t have much on the deer problem-our fence keeps out wildlife, but that’s not a problem I’ve had to tackle, yet.

Look up animated backgrounds. You’ll find different? files that you can use in videos. Then just import them into your movie making process.

I appreciate the tour and all of the information:) I love a “tidy” garden or flower bed! I wanted to grow youkon gold potatoes this year but, I think I’m too late. I haven’t learned enough about them yet. Do you have any advice about keeping deer out? I love the upside down planters you’ve created. If they work, I’m making them for sure next year!
What did you use at the begining and end of your video “in blue?” I’ve? been looking for that kind of stuff for some home videos I want to make:)

Thanks for showing your whole garden. You have an awesome setup all around. Looks like you are bouncing back pretty well from the hail.

What type of soil did you say you had in your raised beds?

I’m really looking forward to your Drip Irrigation video? as I need to put 1 in myself.

Thanks Tim … It’s funny, cause there is no? way that my wife and daughter and I could go through all the stuff we grow. We do can some of it, and we pretty much go wild in the fall … But some of it, especially the peppers and tomatos, I share with several of our friends. I love growing it, but I know we can’t eat it all. Thanks for the comment !!!

Your garden looks really awesome, with your vegetable garden, do you have to buy extra vegetables from the store or are you self sustainable??
