Hello john, l bought the water genie and it work’s great $ 3.97 all day long thanks for the info. My question is about the garden shade cloth its so expensive at the hardware stores. Do you have a cheaper alternative? or suggestions I have a couple of old bed sheets that I could use. I live in Southern Nevada where I get over 100 degree temps. Built a homemade vertical trellis and? using it for pumpkins after watching your video. Also awesome video on tomato w/ur local farmer. Thanks

Chinese junk, they will be in a landfill in two years. But what else would one expect from? The Home Depot?

    Pretty cool? for $4

  8. Mrcoynz says:

I have been watching your videos for a long time now. and i think this is one of the best cheapest things you have shown us.?

  9. Mrcoynz says:

that thing looks awesome! i keep? running over my hose on my gravel driveway because im too lazy to roll it up, causes it to get holes in it. So this thing will work great for me! Thanks John!

  10. Helioforge says:

That actually? looks like a good deal on the raw materials it’s made from! Maybe cannibalize the hose and the trigger mechanism, and run it through the garden!

  11. budokaii69 says:

I got one!? works pretty good

  12. dramey03 says:

    4? bucks, thats nuts

John, I enjoy your videos and great garden tips, however I try my? best to support USA companies instead of China. Yes I agree that $3.97 is a economical deal and fits almost anyone’s budget. But buying Made in China is like planting GMO seeds.

Darn hoes… :-) I purchased the? craftsman rubber hoses after watching your video.. Waited till they went on sale.. Great hose!

John if you are going to water your garden from the cities water system you might want to concider adding an inline chlorine filter. It will help you save the bacteria that you worked so hard to develop. Just? a thought my friend and the Tree Collard is doing GREAT…Thanks!

  16. blackboy424 says:

you post this using a computer? right??

  17. growingyourgreens says:

John, does your faucet have a filter on it somewhere? I wonder if the water genie would? work on rain barrels four feet off the ground or if it needs a pump.

Yes, I do have a filter? on the water that comes into? my house before it goes to my garden. Please see

    watch?v=bnZqPCf6mVs

for the filter im using for the front yard. This prob would not work (that well or at all) with a rain barrel, as there is not enough pressure for the water to flow out..

This has been taken off the home depot web site. It should be available at a store near you. You can check Amazon for reviews of this? item where it sells near the $40, which is its “retail”. It has a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Most people says that it works as advertised… and may help some of you grow more food!

  19. rskurow says:

NIce video John, glad to see? you kept it under 25minutes.

  20. Thaneii says:

Thanks for demonstrating this, but this must? be an item Home Depot is
desperate to get rid of since it can’t be found on their site. The hose is only 40 feet long, and as you say, for that price, the hose is probably flimsy and may not last long. I appreciate the fact that you do show us what you use for comparison. I use a metal hose caddy for rolling up my 100 hose when done, and an adjustable spray head that has more options than the Hose Genie.

I? was wondering the same thing.

  22. moonshadow93924 says:

For 4 bucks, it won’t last. I hate crap plastic, it just adds more toxins into the invironment. Plastic plastic everywhere. You should see? how toxic China is for making this stuff. Sad.

  23. melonbarmonster says:

Can’t find it on home depot website… ?

  24. yardsnacker says:

    sweet! lol?
