I think it looks ugly, and (since I’m a Christian) I think it’s pointless also.
Nothin’. It’s their religion let them do what they want.
More power to them.
They should ask for the equal rights…
Either both males and females should wear hizab or none.
If they are forced into wearing them, then I feel saddened. But if a woman wears a hijab by choice, then there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it and more power to her.
it’s a bit insulting to me, actually. because she thinks that i am not good enough to be bestowed by her beautiful hair.
i dont like it one damn bit.
If they wear headscarves for sincere religius reasons that’s okay.
Those who wear them to conceal their identities that’s a different kettle of fish.
As long as it’s her choice, I’m fine with it.
Might even be an advantage for bad hair days.
The head scarves are okay, because even those who aren’t religious wear it and it can be seen as an obvious choice. Sometimes the scarves are even cool. I’ve seen a lot of stylish ones that reflect well on the cultures for Arabs and for Black Americans.
But the hijab? I don’t see how that is a choice. Someone covering their ENTIRE body and showing only their EYES!! That has to be a person who is suffering from physical or mental oppression and I would advise the person to reevaluate their situation and leave as soon as possible.
The reason for the hijab is that the men feel that it will tempt them by looking at a woman’s body and hair. If that’s the case…then where is the hijab for men so that the WOMEN won’t be tempted? No. This is a case of domination by the wealthy elite males, where women have no voice or power in the culture. Also, it prevents the women from having separate identities, is a nuisance when getting jobs and can’t work well if you’re looking for a husband.
I don’t like what hijab represents. We should teach men to respect women’s freedom to have their heads uncovered. Women should not feel that they have to cover their heads in fear of men. Hijab is a submissive gesture and it’s not needed where men respect women.
Rather than just say it’s okay because it’s someone’s religion I think we should look at the mentality behind it.
It’s their religion. It’s not for me to judge.
they wear those because in that culture women belong in the house, and the hijab is like carrying those walls with them. Nearly all of the women that wear them do so because they want to, it provides a sense of security for them. The women do not feel oppressed, and prefer to wear them. All the crap you see on tv of women throwing off their hijabs after being “liberated” is propaganda.
Besides, what happened to being able to wear whatever you want? Whatever floats your boat.
As long as they choose to wear it and aren’t forced to, I’m fine with it. There are a few women at my university who wear them.
It’s comparable to women wearing tops in 90 degree weather for the sake of modesty.
What I like about them is that they are not sluts and dont sleep around
The part what i dont like about them is that they think thee men are incharge in which is not true everyone is equal in gods eeyes but in todays world people are not equal
I think its nothing to do with me, much like someone who dyes their hair bright red or shaves it off or wears a funny cap, it doesn’t affect me so it doesn’t bother me.
I do however have a personal opinion on the cultural practice of wearing the Hijab and sometimes it angers me to see women all covered as they don’t look comfortable and it looks oppressive but I can see their argument that it is modesty which we could do with more of. Maybe there is an inbetween stage of being modest without standing out so much. The covering becomes provocative in itself and draws attention to the women which I thought would go against what they wanted to do in the first place?
I wouldn’t ban them, I believe in personal choice but perhaps an alternative or less provocative covering would end the controversy about them.
i see that they respect themselves. its seems pretty good.
