Question by Deborah M: What is the best way to ship a home decor pillow? I shipped one and was surprized by the cost !!!!!?
I made 2 pillows and put on etsy and I am happy one sold and would like to make more but the shipping was $ 11.00. The pillow was 12 inches and they almost charged me $ 25 .00 , something about a cubic foot it was a little less on one side so she gave me a break. How on earth do most sellers charge $ 6.00. or $ 7.00 ?

The usually give them a break on shipping by charging more for the pillow in most cases. Some of them ship Parcel post or in those plastic shipping bags. Shipping prices have gotten pretty high. I find for really heavy items UPS is best and for really light stuff trying to find a bag to put them in is best rather than a bulky box that weighs more.

  1. JiggyJ says:

Try vacuum packing it as flat as possible or put it inside a plastic bag and flatten with a large book, before sealing the bag. Then wrap it.

Try using one of those “space bags” they suck out the air and make the item smaller hence smaller cubic feet. Good Luck.

Don’t use that big of a box…. then size won’t be an issue….. It’s a pillow! It will squish down a bit into a smaller box.

(I cannot believe you didn’t figure this out on your own. I am truly stunned.)
